For
this, our second production, we collaborated with two renowned
and award-winning artists, writer/director Lee Beagley and designer/film
maker Paul Kondras.
Do
you remember what you were doing the day Elvis died?
Harry
Smith Jones doesnt, in fact he doesnt remember much
at all. On 16th August 1977, he awoke in the branches of a tree
with no recollection of who he was or how he got there. This
is the tragic-comic tale of Harrys quest to find an identity
as he moves into a new flat and opens the door to an extraordinary
world of ghosts, squirrels and an unhealthy obsession with the
King of Rock n Roll.
This
darkly comic piece looks at memory
and the role it plays in shaping our personal and cultural identity.
Magical comedy, eccentric characterisation, an evocative soundtrack
and an array of Elvis numbers sung live combine to make Me
& The King a visually
striking theatrical experience.
Me &
The King toured the North West and Yorkshire in 2005 and nationally
in 2006. Read review here.
